As cycling campaigners call for the Cycle Hire scheme to be extended to Dalston and the whole borough of Hackney, Caroline Pidgeon has expressed her support:
“The case for extending the scheme into Hackney makes real sense, especially as this is such a cycle friendly borough”
Caroline Pidgeon, Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member, commenting the today’s High Court ruling that the Government’s plan to tackle the UK’s air pollution is illegal - the second time in 18 months that the Government have lost in court on this issue - said:
“The Government is clearly failing to cut illegal levels of nitrogen dioxide in the ‘shortest possible time’.
Caroline Pidgeon, Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member, commenting on the ruling by a London employment tribunal that drivers for the ride-hailing app Uber should be classed as workers rather than self-employed, said:
“I welcome this ruling and congratulate the drivers and GMB for taking this important case.
“This is a real victory for drivers and hopefully ensure that basic conditions such as holiday pay and the payment of the national minimum wage are introduced across the whole industry.”
Speaking to the WISE16 website, Caroline gave her strong support to the Rotherhithe to Canary Wharf bridge project, and discussed how to ensure it is a success.
Caroline Pidgeon, Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member, commenting on the Government’s intention to support a third Heathrow runway, said:
"After an incredibly expensive lobbying campaign the Government has foolishly accepted the myth that what is good for the overseas owners of Heathrow is also good for the UK economy.
"The reality is that airports such as Luton and Stansted have spare capacity. And in time HS2 will also allow easy access to Birmingham airport for many Londoners.
