Electrification of Barking to Gospel Oak train line is high voltage news

Caroline Pidgeon AM, Leader of the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Group, commenting on the confirmation today by the Treasury that funding has been secured to ensure the long overdue electrification of the Barking to Gospel Oak train line, said:

“This is incredibly welcome news. Electrification of this railway line stretching from Barking to Gospel Oak is exactly what long suffering passengers on this line have been waiting for. They can now look forward to a much more reliable service.

TfL must take urgent action on Rotherhithe gridlock

Liberal Democrats at three levels of government have come together to ask Transport for London to take urgent action on the gridlock at Rotherhithe roundabout.

Borough councillors, Bermondsey MP Simon Hughes and London Assembly member Caroline Pidgeon AM have joined forces to call for an end to the heavy congestion around Rotherhithe Tunnel, including changes to the road layout and roundabout.

Protecting transport investment will help keep London growing and moving

Caroline Pidgeon AM, Leader of the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Group, commenting on today’s Comprehensive Spending Review’s announcement relating to future investment by Transport for London, said:

“The big picture is that vital investment in transport in London has been protected. Tube upgrades and other much needed investment projects can now continue right through to the end of this decade. TfL’s six-year funding investment settlement will help ensure that London keeps growing and moving.

Tackling violence against women

Caroline was delighted to attend the recent British United Indian Liberal Democrats (BUILD) event at the National Liberal Club where the important subject of Violence Against Women was discussed.

The event had a distinguished panel of speakers and was organised by Anuja Prashar and her committee at BUILD.
