Dynamite news for Lambeth post offices
A leaked letter, obtained today by local Lib Dems, has revealed that the Government is so scared of public reaction to its post office closure plans that it will delay plans to close more of them in Lambeth until next May’s London Mayor and Assembly elections are over.
Cllr Nick Stanton, Lib Dem Leader of Southwark Council joined Caroline and Lib Dem Leadership Candidate Chris Huhne MP on a visit to the new Salmon Youth Centre in Bermondsey. The team looked at the different facilities on offer, including the climbing wall on the roof, and the environmental green roof to the sports hall.
On Saturday 27th October, Caroline was one of the guest speakers at the Idale Cultural Consortium’s Slaves of Rapparee exhibition and symposium. Caroline was delighted to speak about the importance of Black History Month and the significance of the exhibition which highlighted the story of the ship ‘the London’ and the slave trade, which crashed to shore in Ilfracombe, North Devon.
Vauxhall Liberal Democrats have been out and about in Kennington and Stockwell as part of Lib Dem Leader Menzies Campbell’s Community Canvass Week. Teams have been out knocking on doors and talking to local residents about key issues such as crime.
On Tuesday 25th September Vauxhall Parliamentary Spokesperson Caroline Pidgeon joined Oval ward Cllr Rob Banks at a politics day at Lilian Baylis School in Vauxhall. Year 9 students held an assembly with representatives from some of the different political parties, before dividing up into small groups and focussing on the policies and ideas of each of political party.
