Helping the team in Haringey

Caroline Pidgeon AM was delighted to support Karen Alexander in the recent Harringay ward by-election in Haringey borough.

Karen was a fantastic Councillor previously for the area and Caroline worked closely with her on transport issues.

Caroline joined Lib Dem councillors and campaigners on the doors to support Karen on 28th July.

£1.5m wasted on fire stations that could have been kept open

As the Mayor revealed figures showing that £1.5m has been spent in maintaining fire stations that were closed down in 2014, Caroline Pidgeon commented:

"This waste of public money is a further insult to everyone who fought against the closure of these stations.”

Southern Rail timetable reductions are an act of desperation

Caroline Pidgeon has expressed passengers' disappointment and frustration with Southern Rail's recent service, in a letter to the franchise's parent company Govia:

"[The decision to reduce train frequencies is an] act of desperation which fails to address the underlying reasons of why your current (full) service cannot be maintained to a reasonable level.

“Your service has also impacted and caused economic harm for many London businesses as well.”

£223m in cash left on Oyster cards

As the cash balance on dormant Oyster cards hit £223m, Caroline Pidgeon has called for TfL to do more to return it to passengers:

"It obviously suits TfL’s cash flow situation to be sitting on a huge mountain of unclaimed money from dormant Oyster cards but we should never forget that people are always entitled to claim back their own money.
