Alarming increase in tube delays due to overcrowding must be reversed

Tube delays caused by overcrowding have soared in the last two years new figures obtained by Caroline Pidgeon, Liberal Democrat London Assembly transport spokesperson have revealed.

Caroline Pidgeon, commenting on the figures she obtained from the Mayor of London said:

“These figures demonstrate that improvements to the Tube are in some cases not even keeping up with the rising demand for travel created by London’s booming population and record number of tourists.

More buses on the way for Rotherhithe?

Transport for London has agreed to carry out a major survey of transport needs on the Rotherhithe peninsula after a long-running campaign by local residents, supported by local Liberal Democrat campaigners.

Passengers have complained for years about long waits, overcrowding and journeys being terminated before their final destination to ‘improve frequency’. Their concerns have been backed by local Liberal Democrats on the council and at City Hall.

Caroline Pidgeon, transport spokesperson for the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Group, commenting on the concentration of flight paths from London City Airport that are starting today, said:

“The changes that are starting today will mean residents who were hardly overflown at all by planes from London City Airport a few years ago now face living under a concentrated flight path.

Mayor agrees to Caroline Pidgeon’s proposals to help tackle knife crime

The Mayor’s decision to extend funding for the work of the charities RedThread and Oasis Youth, which support young victims of knife crime, has been warmly welcomed by Caroline Pidgeon, Leader of the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Group, who personally urged the Mayor to support these organisations last December. The need to support such organisations was a key recommendation in Caroline’s report on tackling knife crime in London, which was published last November.
