As the London Loves Business website obtained figures suggesting the cable car from the Royal Docks to North Greenwich is consistently costing more to run than it collects in fares, Caroline Pidgeon has argued it makes no economic sense as a stand-alone project and will only bring benefit as an integrated part of the transport system:
"Despite TfL spending a fortune on advertising and promoting the cable car, the passenger figures and the income generated by the cable car remain dismal.
After her Freedom of Information request revealed that the lifts providing step-free access at Oakwood tube station have been closed 14 times during the past year, and local residents complained of 7 closures in a period of just two weeks, Caroline Pidgeon told the Enfield Independent:
"It is a disgrace that London Underground are denying access to the Tube for many disabled people and others who rely on using a lift at Oakwood Tube station, simply due to a lack of trained staff.
On Anthony Davis's latest Underground London Radio podcast, Caroline Pidgeon talks about her campaign to be the Liberal Democrat mayoral candidate, the Garden Bridge, the new London bus, and the need for a serious Mayor.
Caroline Pidgeon has criticised Transport for London's plans to cut the frequency of busy night bus routes as soon as the Night Tube service starts, and urged the Mayor not to consider cuts to the frequency of any night time bus services at weekends until the new service is fully operating.
Caroline said:
"It is absolutely vital that people who use night buses across London are not inconvenienced by a reduced service before the Night Tube has even started.”
