Mayor's stubborn water cannon push has wasted public money

Caroline Pidgeon AM, Leader of the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Group, commenting on the announcement that the Home Secretary is refusing to give the go-ahead for the use of water cannon in London, said:

“Unlike the Mayor the Home Secretary is showing commonsense on this issue.

“Water cannon runs the risk of injury of innocent people and it will certainly undermine policing by public consent. Yet at the same time it is an ineffective tool to manage serious public disorder situations.

Out and about in Highgate

Caroline Pidgeon AM joined Lynne Featherstone MP, Cllr David Beacham and Haringey Liberal Democrats out on the doorstep in Highgate on Friday 20th February.

The team were talking to local people about a range of issues including housing, transport and the work Lynne Featherstone has done on equal marriage.

Out and about in Carshalton and Wallington

Caroline Pidgeon AM joined Tom Brake MP for Carshalton and Wallington, Cllr Callum Morton and Sutton Liberal Democrats out on the doorstep in The Wrythe ward on Friday 20th February.

The team were knocking on doors talking to local people about the Save St Helier campaign, getting signatures on the petition and explaining the latest with the review of several hospitals including St Helier.
