Honesty over fares and investment needed in London’s transport has never been more important
Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member Caroline Pidgeon, commenting on the Mayor’s announcement over his future plans for transport fares, said:
“Sadiq Khan’s manifesto specifically said that Londoners won’t pay a penny more for their travel in 2020 than they do today. There were no ifs, or buts, in that statement.
“The reality is that many Londoners will see their travelcards rise over the next few years. What we have found out today feels like a very early broken promise from London’s new Mayor.
Caroline joined local Lib Dem Redbridge Councillors Ian Bond and Hugh Cleaver, the Lib Dem by-election candidate Richard Clare and their campaign team out in Redbridge.
Caroline went out in Surrey Docks Ward in Southwark with local Lib Dem London Assembly candidate for Lambeth and Southwark Michael Bukola. They were joined by lots of local Lib Dem campaigners including Southwark councillors Anood Al-Samerai and David Hubber.
Caroline went to Putney High Street with local Lib Dem London Assembly candidate for Merton and Wandsworth Adrian Hyyrylainen-Trett to campaign for better air quality.
Caroline went to Sutton with Lib Dem member of the House of Lords Baroness Brinton to visit the Sutton Breathe Easy patient support group, which is a group that offers help and support to people with lung conditions.
Caroline Pidgeon went out campaigning in Islington with the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Candidate for the North East constituency, Terry Stacey. They campaigned on Caroline’s Half Price Fares before Half Past Seven and to save the 277 bus route from being cut before it reaches Highbury and Islington – a policy which local residents do not want.
