Important milestone as TfL agree to examine Bricklayers' Arms tube proposal

Transport for London have announced they will now consider building a station at Bricklayers' Arms, as part of the project to extend the Bakerloo Line. While other stations, such as between New Cross Gate and Lewisham, were definitely ruled out, Bricklayers' Arms was explicitly highlighted as a seriously considered option.

Campaigning on the Isle of Dogs

Caroline joined Tower Hamlets Lib Dems on 3rd March to get out and about and talk to Isle of Dogs residents ahead of May's local elections.

A real local problem is the low water pressure, which gets worse as the council approves more and more developments without the issue being addressed. Caroline and the team are raising the issue with Thames Water.

The design for the Rotherhithe-Canary Wharf bridge has to be chosen transparently

Caroline Pidgeon has written to the top lawyer at Transport for London, describing her growing concerns at the lack of openness in the design and procurement process, and asking him to investigate.

Specifically, Caroline raised the issues that:

  • A "bascule" design - where the bridge would open and close like Tower Bridge - has been ruled out without clear reasons, despite being supported by transport charity Sustrans in an independent report
