A campaign to remember the famous suffragette Emily Davison and her connection to Blackheath has been started by Caroline Pidgeon, the Liberal Democrat London Mayoral candidate. Despite being born in Blackheath and having lived there for many years, her connection to the area is not publicly recognised.

At a time when the Met is facing serious budget pressures London’s football teams are forcing the Metropolitan Police Service to pick up a policing bill of over £4 million a year.
Following a written question to the Mayor of London it has been revealed by Caroline Pidgeon, Leader of the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Group, that between the start of last year’s football season and May of this year the cost of policing outside football stadiums generated a bill of £4.2 million for the Met.
Caroline Pidgeon AM joined Ealing Liberal Democrats out and about talking to local residents in the Pitshangar Lane area.
The team knocked on doors and chatted to local residents about the proposal to cut PCSOs from neighbourhood policing teams, and about Europe.
"It was great to be out with so many members and supporters, including some new members," commented Caroline.
Caroline Pidgeon AM visited Archway on Tuesday 20th October to see first hand the proposed changes to the area being developed by TfL with Islington Council. Caroline met with residents and TfL engineers to discuss the plans and hear concerns.
One of the major issues is the location of 12 bus stands on the main road - as a result of Islington Council selling off a piece of land where the buses currently wait between journeys.
