Caroline Pidgeon AM, Leader of the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Group, commenting on the decision by the Mayor of London’s office to give planning permission for the Garden Bridge:

“There can be no denying that numerous questions still remain over the long term maintenance funding of the bridge and who will ultimately be picking up the bill.

“Numerous important issues also remain about the public access to the bridge.

Caroline Pidgeon AM, Leader of the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Group, commenting on TfL’s Business Plan published today, which sets out what will be delivered to support the Mayor’s Transport Strategy until 2020/2021, said:

“We should never forget that every day passengers make twice as many bus trips as by the Tube.”

“Bus ridership figures have soared since 2000 and are set to increase for many more years, in large part due to London’s rapidly growing population.

City AM reports on Caroline Pidgeon's efforts to challenge the Mayor and TfL on recent issues where transport facilities have been closed down and impeded the public from visiting busy events - particularly the poppy exhibition at the Tower of London, and the England vs Germany women's football at Wembley.

The London Cycling Campaign website has a report on the last Mayor's Question Time, where Caroline Pidgeon questioned the Mayor on the consultation process for creating segregated cycle superhighways - and particularly on the potential conflict of interest around the role of the finance director of Canary Wharf Group.

The Mayor has finally published his fare package for next year.

Transport for London fares will increase, on average, by 2.5%. Travelcard prices, which are jointly set with National Rail, will see prices typically increase by 2.3%.

For bus users fares will rise by five pence and the application fee for the 16+, 18+ and 60+ Oyster concession photocard will increase from £10 to £20 from 1 June 2015.
