The London Assembly has today backed proposals put forward by the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Members for extra help to be given to leaseholders affected by the building safety crisis.

The successful amendment includes the creation of a support hub that would offer a range of mental health support and practical advice for the thousands of Londoners impacted by the crisis.

Speaking after the amendment was passed, Caroline Pidgeon AM, who proposed the amendment, said:

The Mayor of London needs to step up with far more ambitious plans for policing in the capital, is the key message he has been sent by the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member Caroline Pidgeon, in her detailed submission responding to the Draft Police and Crime Plan for the capital from 2022 to 2025.

In her submission to the legally required consultation Caroline Pidgeon, a long standing member of the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee, set out the following key areas where the Mayor needs to step up:

Caroline spoke to Vanessa Feltz on BBC Radio London around the prospects of applying smart road pricing in London.

Caroline said:

"I welcome a discussion on smart road pricing. It is something I have pushed for years.

Caroline spoke to London Live about the continuing revelations of parties in 10 Downing Street and Conservative Party HQ. Caroline said:

"The more that comes out about Party Gate and the more Johnson tries to cover it up the worse he makes it – especially for those who’ve suffered the most over the past 2 years.

As Transport for London revealed that £31m needs to be found to pay for a "mid-life refurbishment" of the expensive buses introduced by Boris Johnson as Mayor, Caroline Pidgeon said:

“The expensive Routemaster buses are a legacy of Boris Johnson.

“They were expensive to buy and run, yet against good advice he went ahead and bought them while Mayor of London. One of his last acts as Mayor of London was to even expand the number of these expensive buses.
