Caroline Pidgeon AM, Leader of the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Group, commenting on the decision by Transport for London to completely close Tower Hill Tube station on Saturday 1st November and Sunday 2nd November, said:
“It is an appalling decision by Transport for London to close Tower Hill station during half term week and just a week before Remembrance Sunday.
At Mayor's Question Time last week, Caroline Pidgeon expressed her support for a cycling bridge from Rotherhithe to Canary Wharf - which would increase cycling, provide an alternative to the congested Jubilee line, and provide a river crossing where it is really needed.
The Mayor has agreed to review proposals for the "Brunel Bridge" by sustainable transport advocacy group Sustrans.
On behalf of the London Assembly Transport Committee which she chairs, Caroline Pidgeon has criticised Transport for London's decision to pay £80m to Bombardier Transport on terminating a contract which Bombardier had failed to deliver on.
Caroline said:
"How is it possible that Bombardier's woeful failure to deliver was rewarded with a fat cheque?

The Tiger's Head junction in Catford will finally see a pedestrian crossing and other road safety measures - after several years of campaigning by local residents and Lib Dems. Caroline Pidgeon has been asking questions and pushing for action for several years on this issue.

As a Freedom of Information request revealed that temperatures on the Mayor's "new Routemaster" buses can reach 34 degrees Celsius - above the legal limit even for transporting livestock - Caroline Pidgeon told the politics.co.uk website:
